Effective fluid storage is a fundamental requirement on virtually every construction, civil engineering, agricultural, and industrial site. Whether holding diesel fuel for plant and machinery, storing water for dust suppression and welfare facilities, or containing waste fluids awaiting disposal, having the right storage solution in place protects the environment, keeps operations running smoothly, and ensures compliance with the environmental and health and safety legislation that governs how hazardous liquids must be handled on site.

Bunded fuel tanks are the cornerstone of on-site fuel storage for most plant-intensive operations. A bunded tank incorporates a secondary containment vessel within its outer shell, capable of holding a minimum of 110% of the primary tank’s capacity — ensuring that in the event of a leak, split, or catastrophic failure, fuel cannot escape into the surrounding ground or watercourses. This double-skin design is not simply best practice; for most commercial and construction applications it is a legal requirement under environmental protection regulations. Bunded tanks are available in a wide range of capacities, from compact 1,000-litre units suited to smaller sites through to large static tanks holding 50,000 litres or more for fuel-intensive operations.

Many bunded tank units are supplied as self-contained fuel stations, incorporating integral pumping systems, flow meters, lockable dispensing equipment, and overfill prevention devices. This allows fuel to be dispensed accurately and securely directly to plant on site, reducing handling risks, minimising waste, and providing a clear audit trail of fuel consumption — a valuable tool for both cost management and carbon reporting.
Water storage tanks serve an equally important role on site. Potable water bowsers and static tanks supply welfare facilities where mains connection is impractical, while non-potable tanks support dust suppression, concrete battering, and equipment washdown operations. Flexible bladder tanks offer a lightweight, compact alternative where ground space is limited or temporary deployment is required.

Waste fluid storage — including contaminated water, used oils, and chemical effluent — demands equally careful containment. Dedicated waste tanks and IBC containment units ensure that hazardous liquids are securely held pending collection and disposal by licensed waste carriers, keeping sites compliant with duty of care obligations.
